Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. served as a Baptist minister and social activist who’s leadership was key to the civil rights movement being successful in ending legal segregation of African Americans in the South and other areas of the United States. King promoted nonviolent protest tactics, such as the massive March on Washington in 1963 where King delivered his famous “I have a dream” speech. The efforts in these nonviolent tactics to achieve civil rights for all, lead to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. accepting the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.

Come join the Haines City Northeast Revitalization Group and the City of Haines City as we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy with a series of events throughout the city.
