The City of Haines City and Haines City Fire Department are proud to welcome Roderick Moore as Deputy Fire Chief.

Moore comes to Haines City with more than three decades’ worth of experience in the fire service. Moore’s career began in 1988 when he was hired by the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department. He ascended through the ranks and was ultimately appointed as Compliance Officer and Assistant Chief of Professional Standards by then Mayor Alvin Brown.

“This is a tremendous opportunity and I look forward to serving this community,” Moore said. “The Haines City Fire Department has been a forward-thinking, community-minded agency with a dedicated staff and I’m proud to be part of this team.”

Moore brings many technical competences to the position, including Incident Command capability, Fire Suppression, Hazardous Materials, and Fire Training Instructor experience. Having served as the Grant Manager for the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department, he is also proficient in grant writing.

“Deputy Chief Moore has a wide array of skills and experience that will be extremely valuable as we move forward as an agency,” said Thomas Murphy Jr, Fire Chief. “It’s an honor to have him working alongside me and I’m excited for the many great things we’ll continue to accomplish as a department.”

Moore holds a bachelor’s degree from Flagler College and a master’s degree from Barry University – both in Public Administration. In addition to his degrees, Moore has earned a number of other prestigious designations from the Jacksonville Fire Training Academy. He received his Paramedic Licensure from Florida Community College of Jacksonville.

“Deputy Chief Moore is well-respected in the fire service and knows how to get the best out of others,” said Edward Walker Dean, City Manager. “With Chief Murphy and Deputy Chief Moore having a diverse range of skills and more than 60 combined years of experience, the Haines City Fire Department is in great hands and has a very bright future.”
