[ARCHIVED] EOM: HCPD's COPS Unit

3 Police officers standing with 2 citizens

The City of Haines City's Employee of the Month for January is a trio from the Haines City Police Department.

Congratulations to the COPS Unit!

The COPS Unit has only been fully staffed since September, but they have already had a positive impact on the community. The unit consists of Sgt. Chad Smith and Officers Anastasia Burks and Devin James.

The officers take pride in reaching the youth, addressing problems unique to the city's different communities, and building relationships. COPS Unit members have been present at numerous community events. Residents in all neighborhoods, particularly the young residents, tend to be excited whenever the COPS Unit arrives.

The COPS Unit works closely with other city departments, local businesses, community organizations and other divisions within the Haines City Police Department.

During the month of December alone, more than $3,000 worth of toys were donated to the unit, which were then donated to Rise Up Feed and Seed Ministries and the Way Center.

Sgt. Smith, Officer Burks, and Officer James are great representatives for the agency and city as a whole. They work hard to bridge any existing gaps between the community and HCPD.

Great job, COPS Unit!
