[ARCHIVED] Haines City Welcomes Omar DeJesus as Finance Director

The City of Haines City is proud to introduce Omar DeJesus as its new Finance Director.

DeJesus began his tenure in Haines City on Monday, Nov. 15. As Finance Director, DeJesus will provide strategic leadership for the Finance and Utility Billing Operations, as well as the management of its financial and capital resources. Within these departments lie critical business functions, including financial reporting, budget preparation, debt management, treasury, and investments. 

“I’m truly excited for the opportunity to be part of a vibrant, growing community,” DeJesus said. “I look forward to working with this dedicated staff, continuing a tradition of excellence and helping make a great city even better.”

DeJesus brings 10 years of experience in accounting and finance to a department that has earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) in each of the previous six fiscal years. He most recently served as Finance Director of Sun ’n Lake of Sebring Improvement District.

DeJesus holds a master’s degree in accounting from Webber International University and distinguished designations as a licensed State of Florida Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO). He is a member of the Association of International Certified Public Accountants, Florida Institute of Public Accountants and the Florida Government Finance Officers Associations.

“Omar’s work experience and long list of certifications show his expertise and commitment to his craft,” said Edward Walker Dean, City Manager. “He was a great candidate and we’re excited to now have him as part of our outstanding team.”

A husband and father of two sons, DeJesus enjoys spending time with his family when he’s not at work. He’s also often found on the golf course, seeking birdies.
