The City of Haines City has promoted Lekia Johnson to the position of CRA Community and Business Development Officer.
Johnson previously held positions in city government as the events coordinator for the Lake Eva Event Center and the cultural arts coordinator in the parks and recreation department.
In her new role Johnson will be responsible to help market the redevelopment efforts in the CRA community. In addition, she will help generate development proposals from private and non-profit organizations. Johnson will also be tasked with developing proposals to meet the city’s housing needs.
“Haines City is my home. I have lived here almost all of my life,” Johnson said. “I am fortunate to have been offered this amazing position that is so full of purpose. I look forward to helping bring affordable housing to people who have never been able to afford a home and helping to revitalize downtown with new businesses. For me, this position is about connecting with people and giving back to the community.”
