When it comes to prosecuting cases, evidence plays a key role.
Fortunately for the Haines City Police Department, it has a dedicated team member in charge of overseeing it.
The Property and Evidence Technician is tasked with taking in the evidence. The technician makes sure the evidence is properly stored, retained and when the time is right, destroyed.
The technician is also tasked with making sure officers have all the equipment they need. She coordinates with the State Attorney’s Office and Public Defender’s Office for evidence viewing.
Precious Smith
That dedicated team member for the Haines City Police Department is Precious Smith. A member of the agency since May 2017, Smith has held the role of Property and Evidence Technician since January 2019.
Born in Topeka, Kansas, Smith graduated from Maynard Evans High School in Orlando in 2003. A mother of a teenage son, Smith likes to be active when she’s not at work.
In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, skating, bowling, baking and singing karaoke. Oh, and she can really throw a football.
Not surprisingly, her favorite season is the summer.
