Commissioner Anne Huffman Re-Appointed to Florida League of Cities Legislative Policy Committee

The Florida League of Cities, the united voice for Florida’s municipal governments, announced that Haines City Commissioner Anne Huffman was recently appointed to serve on the Florida League of Cities 2020-21 Legislative Policy Committee.

Legislative policy committee chairs, vice-chairs and members are appointed annually by the League’s president. Florida League of Cities President Tony Ortiz, commissioner for the City of Orlando, made the appointments for this term.

As a legislative policy committee member, Commissioner Huffman will help develop the League’s Legislative Action Agenda, which details priority issues that are most likely to affect daily municipal governance and local decision-making during the upcoming legislative session, as well as help League staff understand the real-world implications of proposed legislation and are asked to serve as advocates throughout the legislative process.

Following a career as a hospitality administrator, Huffman became the first African American woman elected to the Haines City Commission in 2017. Formerly the vice mayor, Huffman has been involved with numerous civic organizations across the state, county and in Haines City. This will be her third year serving on the Legislative Policy Committee.

“I’m pleased to continue serving on a committee of civic-minded people from cities of different sizes and with unique backgrounds and perspectives,” Commissioner Anne Huffman said. “Serving the people of Haines City remains my highest priority and I vow to be a voice for all residents. As a committee, we will work to make sure that the issues important to our communities are made locally.”
