HCPD Pet Drive for July

For the month of July, the Haines City Police Department’s COPS unit will be teaming up with the Humane Society of Polk County to acquire supplies and bolster pet programs.

During normal business hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, the agency will be accepting pet supplies in its lobby at 35400 U.S. 27. Donations will go toward the Humane Society’s building fund and general operations expenses.

Also supported during the month of July will be the Humane Society’s SNIP fund, which is the spaying and neutering program and the Second Chance Fund, which provides emergency aid for pet owners’ veterinary expenses.

Items requested include:

  • Gift certificates to bookstores or craft stores for Humane Education
  • Gift certificates to Walmart and pet stores
  • HP printer ink, 61XL and 950XL
  • Dryer sheets
  • Cat litter
  • Kitten food
  • Cat hairball formula food
  • Dog harnesses
  • Dog collars
  • Gentle leaders, all sizes
  • Dog toys, kongs, squeaky, stuffed, puzzle balls, tug ropes
  • Stainless steel bowls
  • Peanut butter
  • Honey
  • Chicken hot dogs
  • Cheese
  • Old towels, blankets, bath mats and soft doormats
  • New or used leashes for flat leather or nylon collars
  • Cat toys, scratching posts, kitty grass and catnip
  • Cat and dog beds
  • Copy paper
  • Powder laundry detergent
  • Tall kitchen trash bags
  • 30-gallon trash bags
  • Dish soap
  • Frontline spray
  • 50-foot commercial grade hoses
  • Paper towels
  • Liquid hand soap
  • Kuranda beds and replacement parts
